Verna Barr, Johnson City

Mrs. Verna H. Barr, age 88, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Barr was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Stacy & Alice Owens Payne.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Barr.
She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barr loved gardening, cooking and teaching Sunday school.
She was a loving and kind mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include one son, Robert Barr, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis & Doug Fox, Johnson City; granddaughter, Katy Fox, Johnson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send special thanks and appreciation to Broadmore Assisted Living for their loving care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Payne Jr., Pastor Victor Wallace and Pastor Mike Garland officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Interment services will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Fox, Howard Briggs, Terry Muse, Coy Tilson, Sam Hilbert, Henry Hall and David Deanhardt. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Barr, Willie Hilbert and Bob Conley.
