Wayne Phillips, Piney Flats

PINEY FLATS — Robert Wayne Phillips age 50, of Piney Flats, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Monday (April 2, 2012) at his residence.
He was born in Bristol, TN, on February 24, 1962, son of Robert Franklin and Mary Ann McClain Phillips, of Piney Flats, he has resided in this area all of his life.
Wayne was the systems administrator for the Tennessee Department of Health, Johnson City Office.
He received an AA Degree from Northeast State Community College in technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Tusculum College.
Wayne was a devoted member of Blountville Christian Church.
He was an avid farmer.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife of three years, Susan Lee Wease Phillips, of the home; one brother, Terry Phillips, of Piney Flats; three sisters Janet Robinette, of Piney Flats, Vickie Isley, of Sanford, NC, and Tammy Grandy, of Mount Carmel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry B. and Ana Maria Wease, of Jonesborough; one sister-in-law, Sandra Hagy, of Corryton TN; sixteen nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Friday (April 6, 2012) at Blountville Christian Church, 1680 Blountville Blvd., Blountville, TN.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the church with Dwight Schaffer and Tom Peters officiating. The family has requested as was done at their wedding a blue jean funeral. Dress is casual.
Burial will follow a graveside service at 11 A.M. Saturday (April 7, 2012) at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending graveside services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 A.M. Saturday.
