Barbara Wilson-King, age 73, of Erwin, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She is a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Cecil and Ruth Smith-Wilson. Barbara began her career as a substitute teacher for the Unicoi County School System, later becoming the Adult Education and GED Coordinator. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church and the secretary for the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency. Other than her parents Barbara is preceded in death by her nephew, Ricky Hensley.
Surviving family includes: Husband: Don King of Erwin; Son: Mike King and wife, Brandie of Erwin; Daughter: Julie Rice and husband, Christopher of Jonesborough; Sisters: Carolyn Hensley and husband, Kyle of Erwin, Linda Banks and husband, Bob of Erwin, Cecilia Lemmon and husband, Bill of Erwin; Grandchildren: Logan King, Kaitlyn Griffin.
She also leaves several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew

Funeral services for Barbara will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Todd McLaughlin and Bishop John Edwards will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM until the service time at Valley Funeral Home. The committal service will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
