Hazel Tipton, Roan Mountain

ROAN MOUNTAIN — Hazel Burleson Tipton, 85, of Roan Mountain, found peace with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2012, from Roan Highlands Nursing Center.
She was the daughter of the late Jess and Sarah McKinney Burleson and the widow of Roy Tipton, whom she loved and adored dearly for 52 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mable Hughes, Marjorie Buchanan and Oran Burleson; and brother, Howard Burleson.
Mrs. Tipton was retired from TRW and was member of First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Cabe and husband, Charles, of Roan Mountain; 2 sons, Gary Tipton and wife, Tonua, of Roan Mountain, and Roy Tipton, of Itasica, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Jodie, Brian and Kelsey Tipton and Jessica Cabe; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Janice McClellan and Janet Buchanan; brothers, Hayden Burleson and Jess Burleson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Tipton will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain with Rev. Gary Edwards and Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlotte Smith and Jodie Grindstaff.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, in Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bob Burleson, Mitchell Brown, John Campbell, Glen Hatfield, Matt McKinney, Rick Hughes, Michael Buchanan and Lee Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Buchanan, Patrick Buchanan, Paul Buchanan and Jerry Tipton.
Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
