Rondal Peters, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Rondal Lee Peters, 79, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Anderson and Pearl Taylor Peters.
Rondal was a watchmaker. He operated Peters Jewelers for 43 years closing his business in 1998. He graduated from the Bowman Tech School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Rondal served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and Jericho Shrine Temple, Kingsport.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Jean Taylor; and a brother: Lefty Peters.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Mary Fisher Peters; A Daughter & Son-In-Law: Patti and Albert Oliver, Elizabethton; A Son: Lannie Peters, Hampton; one brother: Albun Peters, Elizabethton: Two Granddaughters: Carol Peters and Mindy Oliver; A Grandson: Ronnie Peters; A Great Granddaughter: Hayden Peters; Two Sisters: Wilma Cannon, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Erma Lou Broyles, Elizabethton; Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday will be: David Peters, Rick Peters, Ron Peters, Terry Broyles, Austin Goodwin and Allen Goodwin. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his special friends. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Carter County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37644. Friends may call at the residence.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
