George Scholl, Johnson City

Dr. George Kenneth Scholl, 98, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully on March 21, 2012 at his home.
Dr. Scholl was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of George and Anna Scholl. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Dorothy Scholl, and his son John Roger Scholl.
He graduated from The Webb School of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, The University of Tennessee, and The University of Tennessee Medical School. He completed his medical training at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina and Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. Dr. Scholl was a self-employed practicing physician in Johnson City, Tennessee for 61 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Medical Association.
He was a member of Johnson City Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.
He loved his family and his special friends Gerald Malcolm, Linda Hurt, Kevin and Kim Costello, and Mary Sheridan.
The family would like to thank his physicians and the caregivers from Mountain States Hospice.
Survivors include daughter: Anne Elizabeth Scholl, son: Dr. George Kenneth Scholl and his wife, Mary Lou, granddaughter: Anna Katherine Hoskins and her husband John, grandson: George Kenneth Scholl III and his wife Kimberly, great-grandchildren: William and Henry Hoskins, George and Adeline Scholl.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, March 30 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 105 S. Boone Street, Johnson City, Tennessee. Louis Imsande will officiate. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association. There will a be a reception held after the service to greet friends.
