Emma Josephine Van Huss Berry, Johnson City

Emma “Jo” VanHuss Berry, 87, 2431 Stone Drive, Johnson City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2012, at JCMC after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Berry was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late B.F. VanHuss and Florence Vest VanHuss.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Sherman Berry; three sisters, Gladys Taylor, Helen Hensley and Shelby Jean VanHuss; three brothers, Frank VanHuss II, William “Bill” VanHuss and Wayne VanHuss.
Mrs. Berry retired from Johnson City Memorial Hospital and was a member of East Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her children, Ronnie Berry (Ruth), Shelby Stophel (Ken) and Kathy Worthen (Steve); her grandchildren, Judy and Scott, Mike, David, Chad and Courtney, Melissa and Ben and Deanna and Dan; her great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Alea, Andrew, Madisson and Arianne.
Mrs. Berry is also survived by three sisters; Ruth Kerney, Johnson City, Katherine Morgan, Columbus, GA, and Peggy Shell, Knoxville; one brother, Wallace VanHuss, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and beloved friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Gabby, CNA; Dr. Michael Grosserode and Dr. Jeff Farrow.
The funeral service for Emma Jo Berry will be conducted in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home at 7:00 PM Wednesday. March 28, 2012.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to service time in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Please meet at the funeral home at 9:30 for the procession to the cemetery.
