Mary Masters, Erwin

Mary Lee Ayers Masters, age 79, 800 Broyles Avenue, Building # 1, Apartment A, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord at 10:04 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born in Yancey County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Crawford and Loumay Bailey Ayers. Mrs. Masters moved to Erwin from Washington County in 1983 following the death of her husband, Bob Masters in 1982.
She was a very dedicated member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Other than her parents and husband, Mrs. Masters was preceded in death by one sister, Tilda Bennett; six brothers: Oscar Vernal Ayers, Hobert Ayers, Osbern Ayers, Jerry Ayers, Jack Ayers, Boyd Ayers and Lloyd Ayers; two brothers-in-law: Bruce Laws and Junior Stump; two sisters-in-law: Joan Ayers and Rosie Ayers.
She is survived by her special loving daughter, Shirley Masters, of the home; two brothers: Tom Ayers and wife Robbie Lee, Green Mountain, North Carolina, Floyd Ayers and wife Thelma, Bakersville, North Carolina; two sisters: Marie Laws, Green Mountain, North Carolina and Betty Lou Stump, Burnsville, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral service for Mrs. Masters will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Otis Banks will officiate. Special music will be provided by the Southside Trio. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Decker, Dale Laws, Lloyd Stump, Larry Ayers, Johnny Ayers, Chris Ayers, Roger Laws, and David Ayers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Monday at Southside Freewill Baptist Church.
Committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in Seviers Cemetery, Jonesborough. Ministers, pallbearers, family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 A.M. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
