COSBY — Mr. Ronald Chester Hensley Sr., age 79, of Cosby, formerly of Johnson City, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Sanders of Knoxville.
He was a graduate of ETSU having earned a Master’s of Science degree.
Mr. Hensley worked as an electronic technician for Martin Marietta and for Nuclear Fuel Services as well as a school teacher and music teacher. He also enjoyed music and played in various bands, which landed him a speaking role as the band leader in the movie “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bernice Hensley; and his brother, Louis C. Hensley.
He is survived by his wife, Colette Hensley, of the home; daughter, Janice M. Hensley, of Tampa, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald C. and Tena Hensley Jr., of Elizabethton, Edwin M. and Nancy Hensley, of Clermont, FL, Matthew and Tyneal Hensley, of Cosby, and son, Sean Hensley, of Orlando, FL; step children, Candice Torongeau, of Iva, SC, and Keith Foster, of Tucson, AR; five grandchildren, four step children, and one step great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Harold E. and Marlene Hensley, of Florida, and sister, Nancy Jo Robinson, of Illinois. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held and is being planned for the end of March or early April.
