Latham “Red” Winn, age 87, of Johnson City, TN, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Latham Richard Winn Sr. and Lilly DeEtte Winn. Mr. Winn was a U.S. Navy Veteran and an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Hurstleigh Club of Johnson City.
Mr. Winn graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked in Johnson City as an accountant at Red Winn, CPA since 1952. Mr. Winn excelled in golf and tennis and was an avid E.T.S.U. Basketball and Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Winn is preceded in death by a son, David Latham Winn; and his first wife, Rosamond Toncray Winn.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Winn, Johnson City; one daughter, Diane Winn Tapay and husband, Greg, Vacaville, CA; two step sons, Matson Miller and wife, Pam, Gary Miller and wife, Diane, all of Jonesborough, TN; one step-daughter, Donna Miller Bagby and husband, Steve, Atlantic Beach, FL; three grandsons, Luke Tapay, Shane Tapay and Travis Tapay, all of Vacaville, CA; four step grandchildren, Tarah Miller Lewis, Colonial Heights, TN, Melinda Miller, San Diego, CA, Casey Bagby and Sam Bagby, both of Jacksonville Beach, FL; two step great grandchildren, Ally Lewis and Brayden Lewis, Colonial Heights, TN; and the babies, Peachy and Jiggs.
The memorial service for Mr. Winn will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012, in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Charles L. Moffatt officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
A private graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremiah Gaddy, Tripp Hines, Luke, Shane and Travis Tapay, Matson Miller, Gary Miller, Greg Tapay and Steve Bagby.
