Virginia Smith, Johnson City

Virginia Ann Hobby Smith, age 80, of Johnson City, TN, went home to be with the Lord and her husband, on March 2nd, 2012, from Appalachian Christian Village.
She was born in Paris, Tennessee, December 20th, 1931. She graduated from Grove High School and from Toler’s Business College, in Paris Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Henry Willis Hobby, Sr. and Lasker Delillian Finch Hobby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Presson Smith on June 24, 1986,
She was a member of Borderview Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired employee of First Tennessee Bank of Johnson City.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son; Mike Smith and wife JoAnn of Johnson City, TN. A daughter; Debbie Morton and husband Raymond of Elizabethton. And a son; Jim Smith and wife Deborah of Johnson City. Grandchildren; Jeane’ Wilkinson of Hull, GA, Jonna Green of Guin, Alabama; Christa Morton and Christopher Morton of Elizabethton; Megan, Devin, Aaron and Carmen Smith of Johnson City. One brother and wife; Henry Willis Hobby, Jr. and wife Martha of Paris, TN and a special nephew: Mitch Hobby and wife Tammy of Paris, TN and great nephew: Brandon Hunter Redden of Paris, TN. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 6th, 2012, at Borderview Christian Church in Elizabethton. Family will receive friends from 6 until 7 pm at the church, with a service beginning at 7 pm. Kirk Langston, minister, will officiate, and the music will be provided by Scott Reynolds, Ray Don Markland and Narrow Road.
Virginia Smith has donated her body to Quillen College of Medicine of Johnson City, and will be interred at a later date.
