Ruth E. Lester, Johnson City

Mrs. Ruth E. Lester, 83, left this life to be with the Lord at Johnson City, TN on March 4, 2012.
She was a resident of Appalachian Christian Village, 2108 Sherwood Drive, Apt 219, Johnson City, TN. She was the wife of Fred C. Lester, Minister, who preceded her in death on June 30, 2003. Mrs. Lester was a native of Falls Mills, VA and a daughter of the late Charles T. Bales and Martha R. Flowers Bales. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in law: Fred T. Lester and Ann of Elizabethton, TN, Larry A. Lester and Judy of Johnson City, TN, Timothy L. Lester and Karen of Hagerstown, MD. Eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She graduated from Graham High School, Bluefield, VA and McLains Business College, Bluefield, WVA. She did clerical work in VA, WVA and TN. She retired from Holston Services, Kingsport, TN in 1994. In addition to her public work, she was a helper to her husband in Christian Ministry.
Mrs. Lester was a member of West Side Christian Church in Elizabethton, TN. As a young girl and young adult her membership was at Falls Mills Christian Church, Falls Mills, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm Tuesday, March 6, 2012 until a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City, TN. Mr. Greg Key, Minister will officiate.
Entombment services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday at Washington County Memory Gardens, Mausoleum Chapel. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
