James Nolen, Bybee

BYBEE — James Rastus Nolen, age 97, of Bybee, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Life Care Center in Greeneville.
He was born, January 10, 1915, in Bybee, TN, where he lived most of his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Japan and Okinawa and the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He lived in Mississippi and Florida but always came back to Tennessee and his beloved Bybee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Nolen; parents, Darius and Dollie Sexton Nolen; sisters, Illa, Vinnie, Anita and Charlsie Nolen; brothers, J.D. Nolen, Roseberry Nolen; and son, Charles (Jr.) Amyx; and his grandson, Michael Shipley.
He is survived by his sister, Ellie Mae Lane, of Bybee, TN; daughters, Shirley Marie Shipley and husband, James, of Gray, TN, Rita Jane Blevins, of Ringgold, GA, and Wanda Sue Presnell, of Johnson City, TN; and son, Edward Buck Amyx; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many well loved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, in Manes Funeral Home chapel with funeral services following at 2:00 pm. Rev. Roy Dalton will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
