Herbert Carr, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Herbert Carr, 70, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Geter and Effie Blevins Carr. Mr. Carr was a retired Carpenter. He was a member of the Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Lee Carr; and Three Sisters: Clara Rutledge, Sylvia Ornduff and Carol June Milhorn.
In his earlier years he loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife: Shirley Huffman Carr; Two Sons: Randy Allen Carr, of the home, and Matt Carr and wife Kristie, Elizabethton; Three Grandchildren: Mattie Faith Carr, Elijah Stout Carr and Hannah Carlock; Two Brothers: Kenneth P. Carr and David Lynn Carr, both of Bluff City; A sister: Barbara Owens and husband, Bobby, Bluff City; Several Nieces & Nephews; His special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Stout and Pastor Charlie Biggs officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, in the Jones Cemetery, Bluff City, with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be provided by William J. Greene. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, will be: Randy Allen Carr, Matt Carr, Jeff Herrmann, Phil Leonard, Dennis Ornduff, Dallas Ornduff, Shannon Burchett and Randy Wayne Carr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Creed Buy, Harold Lowe, Palmer Dillinger, Dr. David Jones, Dr. Bill Boswell and his many special friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery.
