Viola Calhoun, Hudson, Fla.

HUDSON, Fla. — Viola McCoury Calhoun, 98, Hudson, Florida, went home to be with her Lord Thursday February 23, 2012, in the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson, Florida.
A native of Avery County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Jonah & Della Sluder McCoury. She had lived a number of years in Florida.
Mrs Calhoun was a retired Custodian at the Middle Bourough Elementary School of Hudson. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Parkwood Acres.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Austin Calhoun; One Son & daughter-in-law: Bruce & Glenyse Calhoun; a daughter: Arlene Bostian; three sisters: Bertha Calhoun, Fannie Thomas and Etta Lewis; and three brothers: Will, Gurney and Elbert McCoury.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012, in the Vale Free Will Baptist Church, Newland, North Carolina, with the Rev. Paul H. Webb and Rev. Finley McCoury officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ashleys Chapel Cemetery, Newland. Music will be provided by the Ollis Family. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Vale Free Will Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence of the of the late Bertha Calhoun, 650 Calhoun Hollow Road, Newland.
