Neal Whittaker, Johnson City

Neal Burnam Whittaker, 91, widower of Dorothy Clark Whittaker, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Mr. Whittaker, son of the late Creighton and Mabel Teater Whittaker, was born July 25, 1920, in Madison County, Ky. Mr. Whittaker served in the United States Army in World War II and was in the Normandy invasion, D-Day Plus 1, and served in six countries in Europe in five major military campaigns. He earned several Distinguished Service Medals.
Mr. Whittaker was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was a member of the Big Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include his son: Joe G. Whitaker (wife, Dee Ann); two grandchildren: JoDee Lynne Dotston (husband, Kit), Jonathan Burnam Whitaker and two great-grandchildren: Taylor Ashlee and Abby Elizabeth Dotson, all of Johnson City, TN; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services were conducted earlier this week in Richmond, Kentucky.
