Margaret Fair Greene, age 91, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012, in the Pine Oaks Assisted Living Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born on August 11, 1920, in the Sims Hill Community of Carter County and was one of twelve children of the late Dave and Annie Hampton Fair. Mrs. Greene was a member of the East Unaka Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Greene; three sisters, Edith Pierce, Eulee Carden and Helen James; four brothers, Jarvis Fair, Clarence E “Feeder” Fair, Luther Fair and John Fair.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as a devoted caregiver to family and friends all of her life.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Ann McElwee and Norma and Richard Tetrick, all of Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jan Brinkley Greene, Oak Ridge, TN; four grandchildren, Jessie Houston and Adam Greene, both of Knoxville, Megan McElwee, Elizabethton, and Tyler Tetrick, of Johnson City; four great-grandchildren, Patrick, Jacob, Ryan and Amelia, all of Knoxville; and three brothers, Winford Fair, Hampton, Virginia, L.D. Fair and Milt Fair, both of Elizabethton. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Greene will be conducted on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 2:30 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City with Dr. Wayne Emery officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Music will be under the direction of Mary Lou O’Quinn and Brenda Pelham. Active pallbearers will be: Tyler Tetrick, Adam Greene, Richard Tetrick, Ben Houston, Bobby Tester, Mike James and Nikki Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Herb Seaton, Debbie Wilson and her three surviving brothers.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM till 2:15 PM prior to the service in the funeral home chapel.
