Catherine Harrison, Erwin

Catherine L. Harrison, age 85, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord at 12:10 A.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2012, in Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
Miss Harrison was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina, and had lived in Unicoi County for the past sixty eight years. She was a daughter of the late Charles Asbury and Sena McKinney Harrison.
Miss Harrison had been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Erwin for over sixty years and a member of the Unicoi-Erwin Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 276 for over fifty years. Miss Harrison was a past recipient of the Unicoi County Record of Service Award and was a volunteer at the East Tennessee Brain and Spine Center.
Miss Harrison was a longtime medical secretary serving Dr. Earl Peterson, Dr. Earl Baines, Dr. Cedric Fernando, Dr. Aruna Panini and the ETSU Physicians.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Claude Harrison, Paul Harrison, and James Harrison; three sisters, Vola Turbyfill, Annie Howell and Dorothy Harrison.
Miss Harrison is survived by one brother, Philip Harrison and wife, Kittie, Chattanooga; several special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; very special dear friends and extended family: Dr. Cedric Fernando and his family for their love and care; extended church family and many special friends.
“Cat” spread her love and Christian faith to all she came in contact with over the years.
Funeral service for Miss Harrison will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 10, 2012, in the First Baptist Church. Reverend Ray Sorrells will officiate.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family members will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church. Her body will be placed in the church for one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 9, 2012, at the funeral home.
