Gladine Harrison, Gray

Gladine Hyder Harrison, 82, of Gray, TN, is now at home in Heaven with her Lord & Savior Christ Jesus and with her loving husband of 63 years, Clyde Dever Harrison.
Mrs. Harrison was born April 21, 1929, in Johnson City, TN, the daughter of the late William Charles Hyder and Mary Jane Oliver Hyder. She lived in the Johnson City and Gray area most of her life.
Gladine and her husband Clyde worked on their family farm for 63 years making cheese, butter and buttermilk. She was a mother and grandmother to many in the neighborhood and anyone else in need. She loved gardening, canning and cooking wonderful meals. She was always an open ear and wise council to all that called upon her.
Mrs. Harrison was a member of Brethren Church. She attended Hawthorne Brethren Church (Johnson City, TN).
Gladine Harrison was the manager of the candy counter at S.H. Kress & Company for 22 years, spent 4 years at North Electric, and she had worked most of her life as a farmer, homemaker and housewife.
Mrs. Harrison was a member of Nolichucky Grandview Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Dever Harrison; and two infant brothers and two nieces.
Survivors of Gladine Harrison include 1 son, Charley “Landon” Harrison Sr. and wife, Donna (Gray, TN); grandchildren, Cindy Harrison (Gray, TN), Charley L. Harrison Jr. and wife Angela (Gray, TN); 2 sisters, Janette Hyder Ford & husband, Jim Ford, Marlene Hyder Meeks & husband, Tom Meeks; several cousins; and friends too numerous to list.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday February 9, 2012, at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens, funeral home (5913 Kingsport Highway, Gray, TN).
Funeral services, officiated by Pastors Bobby Joe Barker and Hollace Ford, will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at Gray Community Cemetery (Gray, TN). Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Snyder’s Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. to go to the cemetery in procession. Active pallbearers will be Charley Harrison Jr., Rodger Barker, Dave Barker, Oseler Feathers, Melvin Johnson, Mike Hicks, Carol Mumpower and Ted Douglas. Honorary pallbearers will be Earnest Lee Carr, G.N. Harrison, Buck Harrison, Don Hall, J.D. Feathers, Gordon Harrison, David Geter, B.F. Barker, Sam Stevens and Weldon “Dude” Ford.
