William Grubb, Erwin

William Wiley "Bill" Grubb, age 89, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord at 2:25 A.M. Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born May 20, 1922 in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late Jacob Walter and Grace Lee Davis Grubb. Mr. and Mrs. Grubb have been residents of Erwin for 61 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Mr. Grubb retired after 30 years service with the Clinchfield CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Tri Cities Senior Golf League. Mr. Grubb was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Erwin YMCA and was a former member of the Unicoi Election Commission. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Grubb is preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Grubb and one brother, Newland Grubb.
Mr. Grubb is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Mock Grubb; three sons: Terry Grubb and wife Cheryl, Sevierville, Ronald Grubb and wife Barbara, Johnson City, William W. "Rusty" Grubb, II and wife Sueng Ae, Korea; seven grandchildren: Mandy Blackburn and husband Chad, Brandon Grubb and wife Stephanie, Jenny Safay and husband Nick, Kendell Grubb and wife Carlene, Brandy Smith and husband Jorge, Russell Grubb and wife Jessica, and Brian Grubb; five great grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Candith Grubb; One niece: Karen Bayless and husband Phil; one nephew: John Grubb and wife Pam; special cousin: Elizabeth Price, Abingdon, Virginia.
Graveside service for Mr. Grubb will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon, Virginia. Reverend Garland Thayer and Reverend Larry Wiley will officiate. Ministers, pallbearers, family, and all those attending the graveside service are asked to meet by 10:45 A.M. Wednesday at the cemetery.
Military honors will be conveyed by the Highland's Veteran's Honor Guard.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Robert Ledford Funeral Home.
