Ivan ‘Gene’ Carrier, Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY — Ivan Eugene “Gene” Carrier, 86, of Jefferson City, TN, formerly of 715 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012, in Jefferson City.
He was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Everette Hubert and Lena Greene Carrier. He was also preceded by a Grandson, Deke David Eugene Carrier; and a brother, Joe Lee Carrier.
Mr. Carrier was a lifetime member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. He was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital at Mt. Home as the Chief Ward in Administration. Mr. Carrier was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II.
He was a 1946 graduate of Science Hill High School and a 1948 graduate of Johnson City Business School.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Leonard Carrier; one son, Derek Carrier and his wife, Marian, of Dandridge; three grandchildren, Austin Ryan, Ashley Danielle and DeeDee Doris Elena Carrier, all of Dandridge; three sisters, Blanche Rose, Imogene Chappell and her husband, Bill, and Betty Ann Wilkinson and her husband, Tommy, all of Johnson City; one brother, Ralph Carrier and his wife, June, of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Ronnie Mitchell will officiate.
Burial will follow the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
