ERWIN — Ida Estelle Willis, age 90, 1240 Coffee Ridge Loop, Erwin, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 2012, surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 16, 1922, a daughter of the late William Farris and Bertha Lee Edwards Hensley.
A lifelong resident of Unicoi County, Mrs. Willis and her husband owned and operated Franchard Willis Apple Orchard of Erwin.
She retired from Morrill Motors after 19 years of service.
Mrs. Willis was a member of Coffee Ridge Baptist Church.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Willis is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David Franchard Willis; a son, Jackie Ray Willis; a great grand daughter, Gracie Shelton; and a brother, Ernest Hensley.
She is survived by six daughters, Betty Irene Harshbarger, Johnson City, Emma Lee Shelton and husband, Wendell, Gray, Judy Elswick and husband, Ken, Chuckey, Darlene Davis and husband, Reverend R.J. Davis, Erwin, Nina Kay Corn and husband, Eddie, Erwin, Debbie Davis and husband, Keith, Erwin; four sons, Clarence Willis and wife, Margaret Sue, Erwin, Gary Willis, Unicoi, Jerry Willis and wife, Carole Ann, Erwin, and Roy Michael Willis and wife, Pam, Erwin; twenty grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; a brother, J.C. Hensley, Erwin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service for Mrs. Estelle Willis will be held Friday, January 20, 2012, in the chapel of Ledford Funeral Home. Reverend R.J. Davis and Reverend Harold Lewis will officiate. Special music will be provided by organist Mrs. Inez Chandler and soloist, her grandson, Josh Davis, accompanied by Matthew Nuckols.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tim Ray, Gary Ray, Josh Davis, Jason Corn, David Willis, Chris Willis, Bob Harshbarger Jr., Wesley Harshbarger, Tommy Harshbarger, J.R. Shelton, Michael Shelton and Stacey Davis.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home and other times at the family home.
The committal service for Mrs. Willis will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2012, in the Willis Family Cemetery, Coffee Ridge Loop. Ministers, pallbearers, and those attending the committal service are asked to meet at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
