Ruth Dean, Elizabethton

Ruth Tyree Babb Dean, 88, formerly of 2140 W. “G” Street, #53, Elizabethton, passed away at Christian Care Center on January 18, 2012.
Ruth Dean was the only child of the late John and Hattie Tyree.
Ruth became a Christian when she was very young. She loved and served the Lord all her life and was a Godly inspiration to all that knew her. She will be greatly, greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James Earl Babb; second husband, James “Jim” Dean; son-in-law, Danny Russo; grandson, Nathan Russo; and only son, James Albert “Jessie” Babb.
Mrs. Dean is survived by three daughters, Sharon Eva Brumit and husband, Charles, of Johnson City, TN, Phyllis Vickers, of Frankfort, IN, and Rosemary “Penny” Russo, of Peru, IN; and daughter-in-law, Christine Babb, of Frankfort, IN. She is also, survived by ten grandchildren: Sharon Back, Amy Elswick (Larry), Hope VanHuss (Chris), all of Johnson City, TN, David Brumit, of Vero Beach, FL, Suzi Coy and Ruth Boze, of Indianapolis, IN, Vickie Edwards, of Columbia, SC, Bekah McKinley, of Kokomo, IN, Brandon Babb, of Lebanon, IN, and April Babb Moore, of Frankfort, IN. Also surviving are eighteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Local great-grandchildren include Daniel Back (Danielle), Jessi Back, Catie Brumit, Cheyenne and Peyton VanHuss, Eva Leigh, Kody and Jessica Elswick.
After the death of her parents, Ruth moved to Frankfort, IN, in 1965, where she met and married James L. “Jim” Dean. They were owners/operators of Dean’s Gulf Service Center and Dean’s Blue Cab until Mr. Dean’s death in 1975. Ruth leaves behind nine stepchildren and many step grandchildren, friends and relatives in the Frankfort, Indiana, area.
Ruth Dean was a faithful member of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ. She loved her church and church family very much. Ruth had many wonderful friends there including her best friend, Flora Cato. The family would like to thank Pastor Donnie Reagan and the church for all their prayers, cards, visits, gifts and calls during Ruth’s lengthy illness.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Patel, nurses, CNAs and entire staff of Christian Care Center of Johnson City for their loving and kind care of “Mrs. Ruth” during her five months at their facility. She could not have had better care. They would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Grosserode, Ruth’s family physician for his many years of excellent care and guidance.
A Celebration of Life service for Ruth Tyree Babb Dean will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2012, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Pastor Donnie Reagan officiating.
The family will greet friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 PM till the service hour.
A Committal and Interment service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Everyone is asked to meet the family at the funeral home on Saturday by 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
