Edith Bridger, WILMINGTON, N.C.

Ms. Edith Rhodes Bridger, age 84, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at her son’s home in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Ms. Bridger was born in New Hanover County, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Daniel & Bessie Oldham Rhodes. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bridger was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Jackson Rhodes.
She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College in Greenville, NC, and received a Master’s Degree in Library Science at East Tennessee State University in JohnsonCity, TN. 
Survivors include her four children, Captain Joseph C. Bridger III, USCG, Retired, Wilmington, NC, (Angela), Sue B. Deric, Spring, Texas, Lawrence L. Bridger, Alpharetta, GA, (Ellen), and William A. Bridger, Johnson City, TN, (Vicki); one brother, Lawrence Daniel Rhodes Jr., Castle Hayne, NC; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
The family would like to send special thanks to Johnson City Medical Center Hospice for their wonderful care of their mother.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wilmington, NC.
