Joey Smith, Johnson City

Joey Jay Smith passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, in Johnson City.
He was a native of Johnson City and had lived in Erwin for several years.
He was a son of the late Sonny and Betty Jo Chandley Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shane Thomas Smith.
Survivors include four daughters, Ashley Smith and Heather Smith, of the home, and Amanda Miller, of Erwin, and Tiffany Danforth, of Nashville; a sister, Gail Stevens, of Fairfax, VA; a brother, Hubert (Butch) Smith, of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Cynthia Danforth and Lean Danforth; two nieces, Miranda and Carrie Smith; special cousins, Debbie English, Michael Riddle and Kathy Bailey; special friends, Karen Smith, Mike Sams and Robbie English.
Graveside services for Mr. Smith will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2012, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Erwin Lueker officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard assisted by the Army National Guard. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM.
