Kenneth Ripley, Gray

Kenneth Lyle Ripley, 59, of Gray, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2012.
Ken Ripley was born on September 9, 1952, in Greeneville, TN. He graduated from Chuckey-Doak High School in 1970. Ken proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
After honoring his country, Ken graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Ken was a longtime employee of 31 years with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, as well as a certified boating instructor with NASBLA.
In his community, Ken served as Vice President of the Appalachian Fair Board, as well as Head of the Usher Committee, Staff Parish Committee and loyal member of Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, TN.
He loved his family and loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Ripley was preceded in death by his parents: Delma & Noleta Ripley; infant brother: Stephen Ripley; brother-in-law: Phil Bowman.
Survivors include his wife: Connie Ripley, of Gray; daughter and son-in-law: Jenny and David Taylor, of Jonesborough; grandson who was his pride and joy: Gavin Taylor, of Jonesborough; son: John Ripley and his fiancé, Serena Bivens, of Vonore; 1 brother: Robert Ripley and sister-in-law, Phyllis Ripley, of Treadway; sister: Teresa Bowman, of Greeneville; aunts and uncles: Reba Kilday, Phyllis and Homer Ball, Gerald and Dorothy Ripley, Vivian and Mickey Ripley, Gene and Jean Morrell; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 13, 2012, at 2 PM at the Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. Rev. Lloyd Jones will officiate.
Interment will follow at Stone Dam U.M. Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gary Range, Wayne Daughtry, Steve Jones, Bill Smith, Bob Denny, David Crum, Gary McQuarter, Vaughn Bugess. Honorary Pallbearers: Gray U.M. Church, Rex Timbs, Stanley Byerley, Dave Hogan, Doug Ratledge, Pete Wyatt, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency and “Growing in Grace” Sunday school class of Gray U.M. Church.
