Farrell Harrison, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Mr. Farrell Theodore Harrison, 68, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital.
He was the son of the late George Samuel and Grace Calhoun Harrison and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Clark Harrison; a brother, Elmer Harrison; and a sister, Geraldine Jones.
Mr. Harrison was a veteran of the United States Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed playing golf and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Hope White and her husband, John, Joy Harrison; a granddaughter, Amber Caldwell, a great-grandchild, Joseph Caldwell, a brother Ronnie Harrison, three sisters, Maxine Ellis, Christine Hamm, Joann Guinn and her husband, Claude, special nieces and nephews, Gabe Harrison, Claudia Guinn, Beverly Guinn and Jeff Guinn, his special great-niece, Whitney Guinn, and his special great- nephew, Josh Harrison, all of Elizabethton. A special friend, Chris Lash, also survives.
The funeral service for Mr. Harrison will be conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. Derl Curry officiating.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service and at the home of his daughter, Hope White, 106 Garrett-Estep Road, Elizabethton, at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, January 13, at 1:00 PM in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Guinn, Gabe Harrison, Josh Harrison, Roger Brewer, Donald Holloway and Chris Lash. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Ford, Mike Freeman, Jack Nave and Alan Douglas. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM to go in procession to the cemetery.
