Virginia ‘Pat’ Staten, Laurel, Md.

LAUREL, Md. — Virginia “Pat” Staten, 90, died January 2, 2012, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD.
Formerly of Johnson City, TN, she was born May 24, 1921, to W.M. Patterson and Kansas Dale Patterson. She worked at the Veterans Administration Mountain Home as a dental assistant before moving to Laurel in 1965. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Washington, D.C., as a dental assistant and at Fort Meade, where she retired in 1981.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Laurel for 20 years, Laurel Senior Friendship Club and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Staten, in 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky Ahlquist and her husband, Tommy, Sykesville, MD; five grandchildren, Joe Ahlquist, Ginny Budd, Jessica Rhodes, Stephen Ahlquist and Carrie Ahlquist; eight grandchildren, Owen Budd, Oliver Budd, Will Budd, Brady Rhodes, Peyton Rhodes, Carter Rhodes, Ruby Ahlquist and Jane Ahlquist; two brothers, Ronald M. Patterson, Manassas, VA, and Charles R. Patterson, Johnson City, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and James Barker, Johnson City, TN.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 6, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD 20707.
A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
