Anna Beard, 85, went to sleep in her home and woke up with Jesus on January 6, 2012.
A native of Washington County, she was the youngest daughter of the late Robert and Ida Crookshanks.
She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and East Tennessee State College. She retired in 1991 from the Washington County Dept. of Education after 40 years of teaching at Fall Branch H.S., Jonesboro H.S., Sulphur Springs H.S., Boones Creek H.S. and Daniel Boone H.S.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Beard; infant sons, James D. and Robert Lee Beard; sisters, Evelyn Martin and Elizabeth Carson; and infant brother, James Crookshanks.
Survivors include Christine Hughes and husband, Larry, Marilyn Woodward and husband, Eddie, Deanna Kaywood and husband, James, Gloria Beard and husband, Timothy Stacy, James Beard Jr. and wife, Judi, Angela Watkins, Holly Moffitt, Robbie Barlow, Reiko Casteen, J.W. Barlow, Drew McCarty, Madison Beard, Dillon Barlow, James & Anna Richardson, Ava Greenlee, several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Anna Beard will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012, in the Sunrise Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Services with Rick Clowers and grandson Drew McCarty officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service.
Graveside and Committal service will be held in Beard Cemetery following the Celebration of Life. Pallbearers will be sons-in-laws: Larry Hughes, Eddie Woodward, James Kaywood, Timothy Stacy, and grandsons Robbie Barlow, J.W. Barlow, Drew McCarty.
Friends may also call at the residence of Anna Beard from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or Back Yard Missions at Marvin’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1882 Old Boones Creek Rd., Johnson City, TN 37615.
