Glenn Stallard, Black Mountain, N.C.

Glenn Stallard, 101, died Tuesday December 13, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 AM on January 5, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Black Mountain, N.C.

Mr. Stallard was born in Esserville, VA on November 4, 1910 to William Henry and Julia Wells Stallard. He was a 1933 graduate of King College in Bristol, TN graduating as valedictorian with a degree in mathematics. In 1938 he graduated, with a master’s degree, in meteorology from New York University. He then spent his career as a meteorologist in charge of the Southeast for NOAA. He lived in Iceland, Puerto Rico, Central America and Memphis until he retired to North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Minnie Dee Stallard, a granddaughter, Brooke Schneitman and his six siblings, Dewey Stallard, Elizabeth Scoggins, Pearl Stallard, Earl Stallard, Carl Stallard and Bruce Stallard. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Williams and her husband Don of Madison, MS, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
