Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Sims, Johnson City

Elizabeth “Lib” Starnes Sims, 88, Johnson City, went to be with her Lord, Friday, December 30, 2011 at Appalachian Christian Village.
Mrs. Sims was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.
She was a daughter of the late Roy and Mary Campbell Starnes and was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Taylor A. Sims; brothers, Houston, James “Big Boy,” R.L., Bill, Kenneth, John, Allen “Pete,” and Carrol Starnes and sisters, Betty Headrick, Gerry Starnes and Patsy Byrd.
Mrs. Sims was a retired inspector for Artcraft Glove Factory.
She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church and also attended Piney Grove Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sims was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, collecting and making dolls, raising birds and listening to gospel and country music.
She leaves one son, Roger W. Sims and wife, Gail, Gray; one daughter, Scharee Hill and husband Dewey, Johnson City; grandchildren, Daniel Hill and wife, Betty, Johnson City, Anthony Hill and wife, Kathi, Johnson City, Shauna Billingsley and husband, Sam, Fairview, TN, Tara Lynch and husband, Matthew, Gray, and Tiffany Godsey and husband, Wesley, Church Hill; great grandchildren, Taylor and Andrew Lynch, Claire and Luke Billingsley, Kaitlyn, Cameron and Jacob Hill and Louis, Jesse, Julea, Caleb and L.J.; sisters-in-law, Jessie and Jerri Starnes; brother-in-law, Wayne Byrd and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel with Reverend Paul Crowe officiating. Music will be provided by Sylvia Hughes and Brenda Hill.
Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Monte Vista Memorial Park with reverend Paul Crowe and Reverend Dale Ball officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Hill, Antony Hill, Matthew Lynch, Sam Billingsley, Wesley Godsey, Jakie Starnes, Mike Keyes and Loius Trivette. Her neighbors and friends of Pine Grove will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family expresses a special thanks to the staff of Appalachian Christian Care for the loving and care given to Mrs. Sims.
