Samuel Garber Jr., Kingsport

KINGSPORT — Samuel V. Garber Jr., age 72 of Kingsport, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a Sullivan County, TN native and the son of the late Samuel and Lura Garber.
Mr. Garber attended Fountain of Life Bible Church. He retired from Mead in Kingsport, after 36½ years of service. Mr. Garber was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Claude Garber, Doyle Garber and Aubrey Garber; sister, Dorothy Huntington and half-sister, Kila Othnal Garber.
Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Betty Jane Cunningham Garber; daughters Debbie Arnold and Tracy Shipley; son, Kevin Garber and his wife Angie; brother, James Garber; sisters: Rosie Gilder and Mozelle Garber; grandchildren: Candace Barger and husband Justin, Sam Arnold, Randy Garber, Jessi Garber and Lura Shipley; great grandchildren: Gracie Barger and Zoe Barger; along with several nieces and nephews and a multitude of special cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Samuel V. Garber Jr. will be conducted on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Brian Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. A graveside service will be on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his Gray McDonalds friends. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m.
