David Bullington Jr., Johnson City

David E. Bullington, Jr., age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Pine Oaks Assisted Living.
Mr. Bullington was a native of Erwin, TN, and was the son of the late David E. Bullington, Sr., and Etha Mae Campbell Bullington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Evelyn Webb Bullington; two brothers, Vivian S. and Harry Bullington.
Mr. Bullington received his B.S Degree from East Tennessee State University and his Master’s Degree from Columbia University. Mr. Bullington was a former high school and college baseball and basketball coach. He lived for many years in Miami, FL, and was chairman of the guidance department at North Miami High School. He was former president of the Dade County, Florida Counselors Association. After retirement, Mr. Bullington moved to Lake Placid, FL for 27 years before moving to Johnson City. He was a member of the Lake Placid Elk Lodge and the American Legion and was a U.S Navy World War II Veteran. Mr. Bullington attended the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Placid and was a member of First Baptist Church of Erwin, TN.
Mr. Bullington is survived by his niece, Vivian Bullington Lyle, and her husband, Keith. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruby Webb Hart, and Betty Webb, both of Blountville. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Bullington at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2011 in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald F. Murray officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, Bluff City.
