Sarah McCurry, Erwin

Sarah Briggs McCurry, age 82, 135 Luttrell Street, Erwin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas day, December 25, 2011, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born February 3, 1929 in Unicoi County, a daughter of the late Homer York and Flora May Proffitt Briggs. She was a longtime employee of Industrial Garments.
Mrs. McCurry attended Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Ernald “Bud” McCurry, who passed away March 29, 2011, a brother, H.Y. Briggs and a sister, Vivian Harmon.
Mrs. McCurry is survived by one son, Jeffrey Lee McCurry and wife Abbie Jill, Smithfield, Virginia; one daughter, Carol Sue Ramsey, Johnson City; a son-in-law James W. Ramsey, Jonesborough; two granddaughters, Kimberly Hutchison and husband, Jacob, Kingsport, Dr. Melissa Snyder and husband, Jeffrey, Johnson City; one grandson, Justin Luke McCurry, Smithfield, Virginia; one brother, Doyle Briggs and wife Norma, Flag Pond; two sisters, Ida Tipton and Betty Timberlake, both of Erwin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends and neighbors.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P. M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Talmadge Brown officiating. Mrs. McCurry’s granddaughter, Kimberly Hutchison will provide the eulogy. Special musical selections will be provided by Jeff Snyder and Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers will be Larry Anders, David Eunson, James Ramsey, Jeffrey Snyder, Jacob Hutchison, and Justin McCurry.
Family, minister, pallbearers, and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 29, 2011 to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
