Trula Mae Austin/Abbott, 1924 -2011
She passed away peacefully December 22, 2011 attended by members of her family.
Born in California, to parents Clemuel A. & Margaret Jane Helton/Austin of Yancy County North Carolina. At the time of her birth her family had gone to California to work in the newly developed orange groves. Her family returned to Johnson City settling in Gap Creek to live on a farm and operate a general store.
Over the next 60 years she was married and had 4 children, traveled extensively and lived in the Orient and throughout United States. She always encouraged her children to be self reliant and to follow the path that life offered. She read voraciously and taught her children the value of being well read. Trula had a very cosmopolitan view of life and throughout her life, valued other people’s opinions and had an appreciation of different life styles.
She truly loved her parents, her brothers, sisters and especially her children. She is survived by her son Richard Alexander of Fort Worth, TX, her eldest daughter Jeannie Livingston of Johnson City, TN and her youngest daughter Charmine Biffle of Conyers, GA. and her many relatives in Johnson City and Elizabethton.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cherie Alexander.
