Neville Woods, Kingsport

KINGSPORT — Neville Elmer Woods, age 90, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2011.
Mr. Woods was a 53 year, active member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Naval veteran, radioman who served in the European Theater. He attended Service School at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and he was also a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Clyde Woods and Lennie Venable Woods, of White Pine, TN; brothers, Homer Clay Woods and Ernest Lee Woods; and half sister, Lillian Caldwell
Left to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Shirley Baird Woods; daughter, Rosemary Louise Ledgerwood, of Kingsport; sons, Neville Jeffrey Woods and wife, Theresa, of Greeneville, TN, and Jon Baird Woods and wife, Melissa, of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Kent Ledgerwood and wife, Kim, Christopher Woods, Jillian Woods, Mikaela Woods, Chandler Woods and Macy Woods; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Ledgerwood, Ellie Ledgerwood and Lola Ledgerwood; and a sister, Maxine McCoig, of Kingsport.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will follow with Reverend Robert Burlington officiating.
Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Chapel Mausoleum. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Kingsport Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Pallbearers will be Jim Hall, Paul Lucas, Roy Cloud, Ray Miller, Bill Desatta and Lyle Shipley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church Upper Room Sunday School Class.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church.
