Dorothy Vest, Tusculum

TUSCULUM — Dorothy Howe Vest, age 86, of Tusculum, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
She was a retired librarian from the Greene County School System, having taught at Baileyton, Doak and Chuckey-Doak High School. She had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and family. She loved her church, Greenwood UM Church, where she attended as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by one son, Dee Dillard Vest Jr., and one daughter, Carole Vest, of Greeneville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Katie Roberts, of Chuckey, and Amy and Danny Lowery, of Erwin; one great-grandson, Danny Lowery III, of Erwin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Marlene Howe and John and Peggy Howe, of Tusculum; sisters-in-law, Vada Mae Vest and Edna Vest; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Vest Sr., who died in 2009; her parents, Otto and Sue Howe; a brother, Ernest Howe; and sisters, Reba Bowman and Bernice Vest.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Friday to go in procession to Philadelphia Cemetery in Washington County for the 10:00 a.m. graveside service. Rev. David Gass will officiate.
Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
