Clyde Jones, Johnson City

Clyde Jones, 97, Johnson City, entered into rest Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Mr. Jones was a native of Avery County, NC, and had lived most of his life in Washington County.
He was a son of the late Clyde Jones Sr. and Maude Matney Jones and was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Jones; and one sister, Mabel Trevathan.
Mr. Jones was retired from the Johnson City Elks Club as manager and was a former employee of Nance Lanes and the GPS Gas Station.
He was the last living charter member of the Johnson City Moose Lodge #1831 and a US Army veteran.
Mr. Jones enjoyed working crossword puzzles, Jumbles, Sudoku, telling jokes, making people laugh and traveling with his wife and sister-in-law.
He was a southern gentleman who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. The joy of his life was taking care of his wife and he was proud of what he had.
Mr. Jones’ special friends were Wayne Greene, Harold McNabb, Garland Thayer, Dr. Spannuth, the loving people of NHC Healthcare, including Vern and Sam, and the staff and friends at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
He leaves his loving wife of 68 years, Rosemary Jones; daughters, Dr. Sandy Waters and partner, Thomas Lowry, Fuquay-Varina, NC, Mrs. Nancy Range and husband, Hal Range, Jonesborough, TN; sister, Thelma Bolinger; grandchildren, Jason Waters, Los Angeles, CA, Joshua Waters and wife, Melissa, Holly Springs, NC; great- grandchildren, Ashley Werley, Connor Waters, Dylan Waters and Jeremy Wood; and fifteen nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Jones will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2011, at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Reverend Harold McNabb and Reverend Garland Thayer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnson City Moose Lodge #1831, 1831 W. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601.
