Jack Ellis, Roan Mountain

ROAN MOUNTAIN — Mr. Jack Ellis, 81, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Lakebridge Health Care Center following a brief illness.
He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Richard and Mae Julian Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the United States Army. He had been employed at Mize Farm and Garden and was a member of the Roan Mountain Holiness Church. He was also a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Arnett Ellis, of the home; five children, John Ellis, Mike Ellis, both of Roan Mountain, Sandra Jarrett and her husband, Ronnie, Jonesborough, Susie Simerly and her husband, Mike, Lynn Ellis and his wife, Melissa, all of Roan Mountain; six grandchildren, John Ellis Jr. and his wife, Nita, Jessica Jarrett, Matt Jarrett, Allison Simerly, Austin Simerly, Lisa Ellis; a sister, Mary Grace Greer, Cookeville, TN; four brothers, Warren Ellis, Monroe, NC, Glen Ellis, Johnson City, Robert Ellis, Gray, and James Ellis, Johnson City. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Ellis will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 8:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Don Julian and Rev. Garry Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service and at the home at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, December 23, 2011, at 10:00 AM in Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, with Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM.
