James ‘Jim’ Williams, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Mr. James “Jim” Williams, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011, in Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Carter County, a son of the late Roy and Pearlie Hurley Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of the United States Army, he was a service station operator.
He is survived by a son, Steve Williams; a grandson, Steve Williams Jr.; two brothers, Walter Williams and his wife, Frieda, Harold Williams and his wife, Judy, all of Elizabethton; three sisters, Mae Humphrey, Piney Flats, Gaye Penix and her husband, Ralph, all of Piney Flats, and Gertrude Cox, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Williams will be conducted on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 3:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. L.C. Tester officiating. Music will be under the direction of Letha Grindstaff, pianist.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday prior to the service and at the residences of any family member at other times.
Interment will follow the funeral service in the Combs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
