Joe Cable, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Mr. Joe Thomas Cable, 74, 224 West Doe Avenue, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, December 15, 2011, in Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
A native of Butler, TN, he was the son of the late Wiley Lay and Flora Mae Campbell Cable. He was a former employee of Pharaseal Industries in Johnson City and retired from North American Rayon Corporation in Elizabethton. Mr. Cable was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church.
He enjoyed playing bluegrass music and he loved sports having coached his son’s ball teams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Todd Cable and Jack Cable.
Survivors include five children: Calvin Cable, Ray Cable and Dallas Cable, all of the home, Diane Bennett and husband, Tony, Erwin, and Dale Cable and wife, Sherri, Unicoi; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces; a brother, Jessie Cable and wife, Ella Reece Cable, Jonesborough; and his former wife and mother of his children, Ada Mae Cable, Johnson City.
Funeral service for Mr. Joe Thomas Cable will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2011, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011, in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Calvin Cable, Dale Cable, Ray Cable, Dallas Cable, Tony Bennett, Gary McQuire, Austin Bennett and Wesley Cable. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Vines and Jesse Cable. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
