Nellie Johnson, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Nellie Guinn Johnson, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away December 14, 2011, at Appalachian Christian Village after a brief illness.
She was a Carter County native, the daughter of the late Blake & Lucy Potter Guinn. She was a lifelong Free Will Baptist. She cooked many years in the Tri-Cities, North Carolina, Florida and Alaska restaurants and retired from J.P. Stevens Company.
She was a fun loving person who enjoyed Blue Grass Gospel music, her garden and flowers, but her greatest joy was to cook for her friends and family, especially baking her incomparable biscuits.
She was preceded in death by: brother, Harley Guinn; sister, Brenda Guinn Freeman; and grandson, Danny Carrier.
She is survived by Sons & Daughters-in law: Tom and Donna Carrier, of Hampton, Marvin and Kay Carrier, of Harmony, NC, Elmer and Kathie Carrier, of Orlando, Florida, and James and Kathy Carrier, of Statesville, NC; Grandchildren and spouses: Tanya Carrier and John Roller, Timothy and Kelly Carrier, of Orlando, Florida, Kevin Carrier, of Anchorage, Alaska, Janie Carrier and Tim Keller, Amanda Carrier and Matt Ward, Sandra Carrier and Troy Dennison, of Statesville, NC, Teressa Carrier and Chris Odham, of Huntersville, NC, and Becky Carrier and Bruce Stewart, of Harmony, NC; and fourteen Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to her. She is also survived by Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Virginia and Weldon Gobble, of Johnson City, Gladys and Walter Cox, Ellen and Eugene Meyers, of York, Pennsylvania, Jacqueline and Ray Howell, of Unicoi, and Glenda and Mike Calvert, of White City, Kansas; and Sister-in-law, Frances Guinn, of Hampton; Brothers and Sisters-in law: Blake and Penny Guinn, Robert and Barbara Guinn, of Hampton; brother, Verlin Guinn, of Unicoi.
Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Chapel Sunday, December 18, 2011, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. with the service to follow. Rev. Darrell Bailey and Rev. Gary Whitehead will be officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Cochran Cemetery in the Fairview Community. Pallbearers will be Tim Carrier, John Roller, Charlie Roller, Josh Roller, Tim Keller and Nathan Keller.
Friends and family will also be received at the home of Tom and Donna Carrier.
