Louise Chandler Brown, 80, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 10, 2011, after a brief illness.
A life-long resident of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Claude Earl and Annie Norman Chandler. She was a 1949 graduate of Science Hill High School. Louise was a very active member at East Unaka Christian Church, where she had served on the hospitality committee, worked in Vacation Bible School and was a member of the ladies’ fellowship group and circle.
She enjoyed cooking, trips to the beach, church activities, finding treasures at garage sales and most importantly spending time with family and showing her love by preparing delicious food for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, William Daniel Brown; son, Jerry Neal Brown; daughter, Mary Ellyn Brown; and brother, Edward Chandler.
She is survived by daughters, Claudia Preston McCord and husband, Mike, Glenda Shipley and husband, Jim, of Johnson City; sons, W. Daniel Brown Jr. and wife, Susan, Austin, TX, Steve Brown and Chris Brown, sister, Mary Lou Gammo, all of Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Fay Earl Chandler, of Pasadena, CA, and Martha Brown Hicks, of Johnson City; grandchildren, Richard Preston, Alan Preston, Virginia Preston Hill, Ashley Brown Lewis, Betsy Shipley, Bill Brown, Gracie Bass and Katie Brown; great grandchildren, Victoria Hill, Holden Preston, John Preston and Annie Hill. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Louise Brown will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, at East Unaka Christian Church with Dr. Wayne Emery officiating.
A Reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall, at which time the family will receive friends.
The Win-A-Kuple Sunday School Class of East Unaka will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
A private family committal and interment service was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
