Julia Lee James, Johnson City

Julia Lee James, age 94, of Johnson City, TN, passed away December 10, 2011 at the Appalachian Christian Village Health Care Facility in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Julia was born September 16, 1917, the daughter of Albert H. and Fara G. (Howard) Humphrey in McLean County, Kentucky. On December 25, 1942, she married Milton “Jake” James in Hernando, Mississippi. Julia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age while attending Buck Creek Baptist Church near Calhoun, Kentucky. She spent her life serving the Lord as an active member of Baptist churches where she has lived, the most recent being Unaka Baptist Church, Johnson City TN and Westview Baptist Church, Swansea, IL.
Julia was a devoted wife and mother. After raising her children to adulthood she operated an “in home’ children’s daycare center and served the Swansea, Illinois community as a school crossing guard for over ten years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Ruth Edds, Mildred Niceley, and Linda Turner; a brother, Gary Humphrey; and two infant siblings.
She is survived by her children, David “Jim” (Nancy) James of Talkeetna, Alaska, Michael (Nancy) James of Butler Tennessee; Jeffrey James of Swansea, Illinois; and Christi (Paul) Jackson of Swansea, Illinois; four Grandchildren; five Great Grandchildren; a brother, Hubert Gene (Sue Anne) Humphrey of Falls of Rough, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 16th, 10am at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
