Jim Garland, ERWIN

Jim Garland, loving husband, age 60, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Unicoi County and the son of the late Mary Ann Crawford. He attended the University of Tennessee, and loved the Vols. He enjoyed coaching girl’s softball, and loved his kids and grandkids very much.
Jim served his country as a medic in the U.S. Navy, and later retired from CSX Transportation as a conductor.
In addition to his mother, Jim is preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia McInturff; and brother, Frank Crawford.
He is survived by: Wife of 34 years: Kim Edwards Garland; Daughters: Mary Ann Garland, Tialynn Whitson; Grandsons: Scott Greene, Eli McNalley; Granddaughter: Hannah McNalley; Uncle: Jerry and Jean Crawford.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Randy Griffith will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until service time on Tuesday. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Masters and Doug Edwards.
