Edward Buckles, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Edward Lee Buckles, 67, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, at his residence after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Edward and Juanita Elliott Buckles.
Eddie was a 1962 graduate of Unaka High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was retired Director of Solid Waste, Carter County Land Fill. He was a Member, Deacon & Trustee of the Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
Eddie was a member of the Regional Solid Waste Board. He was owner of Ol Timer Stakes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter: Madison Blevins.
Survivors include his wife: Shirley Estep Buckles; A son & Daughter-In-Law: Lance & Glenda Buckles, Elizabethton; A Daughter: Tracy Leanne Buckles, Elizabethton; Two Grandsons, including a special grandson, Christopher Buckles and Jeremy Blevins and his wife, Misty; A Great Granddaughter: Mackenzie Blevins; A Sister: Teresa Buckles, Johnson City; A very special friend, whom he considered a daughter, Paula Nidiffer and her husband, Jon.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Dennis Wilson officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011, in the Cladwell Springs Cemetery. Music will be provided by Bill Greene and Teresa Range, Soloists, and Cathy Wilson, Pianist.
Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday will be: Allen Goodwin, David Shouse, Bob Wilson, Lee Goodwin, Doug McCloud and Joe Buckles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons & Members of Lynn Valley Baptist Church, Harold Range, Rick Colbaugh, Mike Torbett, Bob Campbell and Mike Nidiffer.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Allison Prinz, Dr. Joseph Lee, Dr. Daniel Paul and the staff of Mountain States Hospice.
To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Eddie to the Building Fund, Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
