Judy Melinda Plumley Cardwell, age 57, of Gray, Tennessee, formerly of Irish Mountain, WV, lost her battle with cancer on Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born on January 29, 1954, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bragg and Ora Nadine Russell Coleman.
Mrs. Cardwell was a former head cook at Wellington Place Nursing Home in Johnson City, Tennessee. She had made her home in Gray, Tennessee, for the past 10 years, having previously resided on Irish Mountain Road. Mrs. Cardwell enjoyed planting flowers, gardening and bowling.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Plumley, and a brother Jerry Bragg.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Robert Cardwell of Gray, Tennessee.
Her children, Melinda Lester and her husband Kevin of Ghent, WV; Shawn Plumley and his fiancée Kristen Shell of Gray, Tennessee. Two brothers, Gary Bragg and his companion Mary of Alderson, WV; and Frank Bragg and his wife Suzanne of Hawaii. Three Sisters, Sarah Feamster and her husband Steve of Alderson; Beatrice Browning and her husband Robert of Mulberry, Florida; Reba Baker of Mulberry, Florida. Five grandchildren, Sarah Bragg, Joshua Bragg, Bethany Hill, Grace Quesenberry, and Caiden Plumley, along with another grandchild expected next month, and many nieces and nephews are also among her survivors.
Funeral services to Celebrate the Life of Judy Cardwell will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Bragg officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
