Maxie Eads Sams, Bluff City

Maxie Eads Sams, age 86, of Bluff City went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Sullivan County she was a daughter of the late Carl Eugene and Mary Irene Hughes Eads. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, I. H. Sams, a twin sister, Trixie Lou Eads Hicks with whom she shared a special relationship, one brother, M.D. Eads and one niece, Mary Eads Osborne. She was a member of Bluff City United Methodist Church and she loved working outdoors, fishing and camping. She retired from Sperry after twenty-five years of service.
Survivors include her sister, Nelle Patecell Glover of Gray, TN; three nieces, Linda Hicks of Bristol, Cheryl Wexler of Gray and Donna Maples and husband Carl of Roswell, GA; three nephews, Derran Patecell and wife Wilma of Flintstone, GA, Ted Patecell and wife Carol of Arlington, VA and David Patecell and wife Leslie of Fairfax, VA. and their children and grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M., Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel with Rev. Dan Gray officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to their favorite charity.
