Agnes Biegler, Elizabethton

Agnes Biegler, age 94, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Negaunee, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Fredrika Parkimaa Antilla. Mrs. Biegler had lived in Elizabethton since the early 1990’s when she and her husband, the late Robert A. Biegler, moved here from Huntsville, Alabama, where she retired as a bank teller.
Agnes was a very wonderful and giving person, and had spent six years volunteering her time at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel, especially going on cruises with her family. Agnes was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Johnson City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Biegler was preceded in death by her son, Richard Biegler; a grandson, Richard S. Biegler; a sister, Aileen Bushey; and three brothers, George Antilla, Leo Antilla, and Oscar Antilla, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Wilson, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Judy Biegler, Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Laura Nutter and husband, Glen, of Gray, Daniel J. Wilson, of the home, and Beth Hines and husband, Gene, Madison, Connecticut; seven great-grandchildren, Annabel and Andy Hines, Daniel John Wilson, Zoe Vestal, Jaymon Daniel Wilson, Peyton Whitehead, and Scott Biegler; and special friends, Loretta Pierce, Linda Peterson, and Sharon Galyon, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Agnes Biegler will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor James Nipper officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Jerry Barnett, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service or at the residence other times. The entombment service will follow the funeral on Tuesday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
