Thelma Moore, 82, of Bailey Bridge Road, Chuckey, in the South Central Community, died Saturday, December 2, 2011 at her home.
She was a partner of Moore, Moore, Moore, and Fleenor, Inc. and homemaker
She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was the last charter member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Women. She was also a counselor of the MYF Youth Group for many years.
Mrs. Moore was a devoted Christian, who loved singing in the choir.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She loved the hours spent with her family, which was every day. She enjoyed cooking for them.
Mrs. Moore is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Kyle and Connie Moore of Limestone; daughter and son-in-law: Teresa (Moore) and Franklin Painter of Chuckey; three grandchildren: Marla and Randy Hyatt of Piney Flats, Benjamin and Heather Moore of Jonesborough, and Logan Moore of Limestone; three great grandchildren: Samuel Hyatt and Alexandria and Addison Moore; brother and sister-in-law: Cecil A.R. “Tiny” Smith and Margaret of Johnson City; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends: Howard and JoAnn Painter.
She was born in Johnson City and attended Science Hill High School. She was the daughter of the late Sally Troutman Smith and James Smith of Johnson City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene K. Moore on January 12, 2001. He was a widely known businessman who owned Moore Insurance Agency in Jonesborough for 45 years.
Eugene and Thelma were married for 53 years.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel and Marie Smith.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home and again for 30 minutes preceding the funeral service at the church.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at
Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Rance Edwards and Howard Painter officiating.
Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
Her pallbearers will be Alex Moore, Josh Moore, Erik Fleenor, Jon Fleenor, Allen Painter, Arthur Hoxie, and Chris O’Dell.
Dr. Charles Montgomery, the members of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Hunter Tipton, Ronnie and Pamela Brown, and her caregivers: Ashley Eaton, Rusty Holt, Micki Livesay, Chase Broyles, and Barbara Owens will all serve as honorary pallbearers.
